Terriers Win in Virden

Hendrix scores 2 goals in the 3-0 win.

The Terriers were on the road last night to Virden for their second of four exhibition games. Portage would strike first at 6:37 of the first with a goal from Ryan Hendrix, assist to Jared Roy. The period ended with the Terriers in the lead and shots on goal 11-7 favoring the dogs.

The game started to get physical in the second and there were a total of 69 minutes in penalties handed out. Just passed the halfway point of the period, Virden was awarded a penalty shot taken by Mack Hardy with Wes Ellingsen making the save after just entering the game. Kuklica was assessed a minor for high sticking with two minutes to go in the period and Portage would take a 2-0 lead with a shorthanded goal by Sokoloski at 19:13.

The third was more of the same as both teams were on edge and there was plenty to say after every whistle. An additional 155 minutes in penalties were handed out in the final frame. Ryan Hendrix would add to Portage’s lead with his second of the game on the powerplay at 17:21.

The Terriers have back to back exhibition games this Friday Saturday with the Blues, Portage starting on the road.
